The images in this book explore freedom as a state of constant agitation and negotiation. Berlin, with its symbols of power and control—fences, walls, police, and military—becomes the stage for this confrontation. At the heart of this exploration are human emotions: resistance and despair, narratives of victimhood and culpability, all intrinsically tied to walls. Walls, both physical and symbolic, stand as manifestations of promised protection and lived exclusion.
